AIGA Skateboard Graphics Poster

This poster was created in ART203 for a mock AIGA conference. Print size is 36 x 16 inches. The topic of discussion was if skateboard graphics were valid graphic design based on a paper that was written by Jennifer Kabat.

Student Vineyard Bulletin Cover

This graphic was designed for the cover of Vineyard Boise’s Youth Bulletin. The issue is changed each week using a layer in Adobe InDesign.

Super Swell Nut Brown Ale Beer Label

I created this graphic for my first home-brew. I wanted a project to learn how to play with gradient meshes in Adobe Illustrator. This graphic is 100% resizable vector artwork. (The beer was mighty tasty.)

Illustrated Map of the United States

These maps were created for Vineyard USA while I was managing the graphics for their Web site. The graphics were created in Adobe Illustrator, then imported to Adobe PhotoShop where background colors were easily changed.

You can visit Vineyard USA’s national site at www.vineyardusa.org.

Celtic Tattoo

This celtic graphic was created to be tattooed on my back. I have yet to be inked. Whether that is because of the expense or fear of pain, I will never tell.

Vineyard Boise Web Headers

These series of duotone banners were created for Vineyard Boise’s Web site. You can see them in action at www.vineyardboise.org

Engineering State Diagram

This is an electrical engineering graphic created for EE230, Digital Systems, at Boise State University. It is a diagram for a Mealy state machine inside a car that would automatically drive itself given a set of obstacles.

The state diagram helps clarify what state the machine should move to given a stimulus and the current state. The transition conditions are the binary states for the switches.

Check out the Computer Science department at Boise State University.

Salmon Fish Illustrations

This is a set of graphics created for ART118, Graphic Design Tools, at Boise State University.

The assignment was to combine typography with illustration while learning how to use Adobe Illustrator. All four images had to be related to each other. They had to be black and white without grayscale.

Check out the Art department at Boise State University.

Close Up Fishing Reel Illustration

This is a close-up of the previous slide showing the detail of the fishing reel. The image is a line drawing taken from a photograph of my fishing reel.

I used Adobe Photoshop to create the half-tone and imported the paths into Illustrator. This image is 100% resizeable vector artwork.

Representations of a Swivel

This is a series of graphics created for ART117, Introduction to Typography and Grapic Design, at Boise State University.

The assignment was to create three graphics based off a single object. The first being an object representation, the second an abstract representation (iconic), and thirdly an abstract non-representation, eg. spinning motion. The fourth image is taking one of the graphics and incorporating our name, similar to a branding or a logo mark.

These images were hand drawn and inked with pen and india ink.

Typographical Antonyms

This is also a set of graphics created for ART117, at Boise State University.

This project was used to explore typography and express a pair of antonyms graphically.

Right-side-up & Up-side-down
Near & Far
Foreground & Background
